H. E. Coward has evolved from five generations of butchers to become what it is today.

Robert Coward has worked in the business from 1961 and became a partner in 1966 after leaving school. Over the last 50yrs Rob has advanced the business, changing with the times, yet always maintaining traditional practices and a passion for the finest quality produce. He is still at the forefront of H.E. Coward and although not practising butchery always keeps a watchful eye on the product and service.

Sue Coward started in 1973 as a young shop assistant and ended up marrying the boss. Little did she know it would turn into 40years hard labour!
The idea behind Sue Coward’s Homemade Pies came to her one night, she turned to Rob and said ‘You know, I think I could make a few homemade pies!’ now with a weekly production 12,000 strong, and still using the same homemade techniques, it’s safe to say she can make more than a few!

Rob and Sue now continue to run the business with the next generation, their daughters Elly and Vicki
